William
Nield Christensen joined the vocal faculty of the Wanda L. Bass
School of Music at Oklahoma City University, where he is an
Assistant Professor of Voice.
He has taught at Westmont College, in Santa Barbara California,
at the University of California at Santa Barbara, the Santa
Barbara Summer Session’s Young Artists Vocal Institute, Cate
Preparatory School, and Indiana University.
While at Indiana University, Mr. Christensen represented the
University’s School of Music in an exchange program with the
Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart, Germany.
He was subsequently invited to join the Stuttgart Opera Studio
then under the direction of Herr Klaus Nagora. This led to
engagements with the Wüttenbergishe
Philharmonie Reutlingen, and the Chor-und Konzertverin
Internationales Opernstudio Merran.
He has been a featured soloist with the Santa Barbara Chamber
Orchestra, Santa Barbara Choral Society, Grand Opera Santa
Barbara, Opera Santa Barbara, Adriatic Music Festival, and the
Arts and Letters Cafe Opera Series.
He is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the
University of California at Santa Barbara. In 2005, he partnered
with the Santa Barbara County Board of Education and Children’s
Creative Project to form a new music arts program teaching core
arts curriculum to at risk and under-performing elementary
school students.
Professor Christensen lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with his wife
and thirteen-year-old son.
