Brightmusic
Society of
Oklahoma presents:
Our
Artistic Directors
Chad Burrow, assistant professor of clarinet, and his wife, Amy
I-Lin Cheng, assistant professor of piano, are the artistic directors of Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble. Both
are on the faculty of Oklahoma City University.
Chad has
performed to critical acclaim from Europe to the United States
and Asia. His performances have been described by critics as
"beyond reproach," and “…[played] with a full, liquid tone."
Rick Rogers of the Daily Oklahoman stated that a recent
performance was "…always governed by an overriding musicality."
He is assistant professor of clarinet at Oklahoma City
University and the principal clarinetist with the Oklahoma City
Philharmonic Orchestra.
A virtuosic
concert pianist, avid chamber musician and international
educator, Amy was recently appointed head of the piano program
at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City
University. She has performed in venues ranging from Carnegie
Hall to the National Recital Hall of Taiwan. She won the 2000
Heida Hermanns International Young Artist Piano Competition, and
after winning first place in the Rising Young Artist Series in
Taipei, she toured throughout Asia. The New York Concert Review
calls Cheng “a natural talent,” noting “her control of the
keyboard is complete, technique easy and relaxed, with a wide
range of touch, color and dynamics.”
In addition to being nationally and
internationally respected musicians, they share our vision of
seeing Brightmusic become an even greater presence in the
Oklahoma City cultural community.
