KRISTOPHER
MALOY
Dr. Kris Maloy
is Director of Jazz Studies and Adjunct Professor of Saxophone
and Composition at Oklahoma City University.
An
accomplished saxophonist in both the classical and jazz genres,
Maloy is a two-time winner of the Outstanding Individual
Achievement in Jazz from the National Association of Jazz
Educators. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music
Honor Society.
Maloy has
composed for orchestra, wind ensemble, chamber orchestra, solo
instruments, and a wide array of chamber ensembles. His music
has been honored by the Society of Composers, Inc.; the North
American Saxophone Alliance; and the Cleveland Chamber
Orchestrafs Young and Emerging Composers series.
His
composition degrees are from Oklahoma City University (B.M.,
with highest honors), Bowling Green State University (M.M.), and
the University of Texas at Austin (D.M.A.). Composition teachers
include Dan Welcher, Kevin Puts, Donald Grantham, Russell
Pinkston, Marilyn Shrude, Mikel Kuehn, and Edward Knight.
